My Story

Hello, and thank you for visiting my blog!

Food has always been a major part of my life. Growing up Italian-American and marrying an Italian (my husband is first generation in the United States), it’s all about the food. We plan everything around food: shopping for food, making food, eating food… and before we’re done with one meal, we’re already planning for the next! So I guess you can say it’s in my blood; I’m a true foodie at heart.

I remember cooking and baking with my grandmother at a very young age. She would pull a stool up to the stove and I would help her cook. By about the age of five, I had mastered the art of chocolate pudding. I stirred it constantly until it formed into a thick, creamy pot of goodness. My favorite part was pouring it into little glass cups and watching the skin form on the top! I would peel the skin off and eat that part first!

Formally trained as a classical marketer (with a short stint as a professional makeup artist), I worked in “corporate America” for more than 14 years, but gave it all up to stay home with my three kids; ages 5, 3 and 1. It’s taking some “getting used to,” but I’ll adjust! My daughter, Ava (she’s the 5-year old), is following in Mom’s footsteps; she loves to cook and bake with me. She peels a mean carrot and she makes me laugh when she asks if I want to take pictures of her food!

Cooking and entertaining is my creative outlet. With three kids (and a husband!), I’m always looking for great gadgets, good recipes and shortcuts to help me pull it off. As founder of The Crafty Hostess, I hope to bring my outlook on cooking and entertaining to you. Bon appétito!
